Linval Thompson – Fussing & Fighting
Local heads, The Med Tone All Stars Band, featuring Dor Velan on keyboards & Smilan brothers on drum and bass, have created an original backdrop inna wicked early 1980s ‘Rub A Dub’ style & fashion. It were these kinda riddims played by the Roots Radics Linval Thompson used for himself as well as for his production work with artists such as Freddie McGregor, Wailing Souls, The Meditations, Johnny Osbourne and The Viceroys. The riddim that underpins “Fussing & Fighting” was recorded and mixed at the Med Tone recording studio in Tel Aviv with analog tape machine and vintage gear that can reproduce the original sounds from the golden age of reggae music. Linval Thompson delivers a strong message tune, in which he calls us to live in peace, justice and equality. Fitting into the tradition of the Jamaican 45s, the flipside of the vinyl release contains a heavyweight dub version titled “Rubbing & Dubbing”.
